Jinglan Purple Clay Teapot

As the name suggests, the shape of the Jinglan teapot is inspired by the structure of an ancient well curb. It was first created by Chen Mansheng and is considered one of the classic traditional teapot forms, known for its various design variations.

In real life, a "Jinglan" refers to the protective railing around a well, also known as the well's curb, well platform, or wellhead. In ancient times, wells were often equipped with such railings, and sometimes even well covers, well tops, or well pavilions were added. These structures not only protected the well but also served to beautify the surroundings. The well curb raises the well's mouth above ground level, which is reflected in the design of the Jinglan teapot.
