High Imitation Famille-Rose Heavenly Globe Vase with Panta Peach Design

This vase features a slightly flared straight mouth, a short neck, a rounded body, and a circular foot. The entire surface, both inside and outside, is coated with a white glaze. A peach tree, painted in famille-rose enamels, winds from the base up the body of the vase, with lush branches and leaves, and eight large, plump peaches hanging from the branches.

The “Heavenly Globe Vase” derives its name from its resemblance to a celestial sphere. This type of vase first appeared during the Yongle and Xuande periods of the Ming Dynasty and became popular during the Yongzheng and Qianlong periods of the Qing Dynasty, primarily as decorative porcelain. Later famille-rose heavenly globe vases with panta peach designs were often modeled after those from the Yongzheng and Qianlong periods. Famille-rose porcelain from the official kilns of the Yongzheng period typically features eight peaches, while those from the Qianlong period commonly depict nine, giving rise to the saying, "Yongzheng eight, Qianlong nine." The composition of this vase is spacious and well-arranged, with a harmonious blend of light and dark glaze, and the painting is intricate and skillfully executed, making it a representative work of Yongzheng famille-rose porcelain.
